Gathering 1. An assembly or meeting, especially one held for a specific purpose.

For three days and three nights, we gather together with the specific purpose to dance with our community. 

We dance with the specific purpose to open our attention to this time we are living.

We open our attention to ourselves and call towards us what we need for the year ahead.

Whakarongo, whaka. rongo - How can I deeply listen to this world around me?

Mauri Tū, Mauri Toa - How do I stand with my truth and still be able to hear yours? 

Mauri Tau, Mauri Aroha - How do I feel safe at this time and stay in connection with others?

Humans are complex beings and we like to put each other into boxes, right/wrong, good/bad, us/them, broken/fixed.

It doesn't work, it misses the point of living and gives us finite options, 

contracting our life, rather than expanding and evolving it. 

Two options can exist (at least) in most situations, in fact, there are usually multiple options and that can be true at once. 

For example, buying my new house, was both terrifying and brought towards me the safety I craved. 

I absolutely love and adore my children and I am also happy when they are away from me for a time. 

I can be brave and scared, I can go to the worst workshop and learn the most about myself. 

Both can be true.

The time we are living in is moving at an accelerated pace, and we are being asked to change and grow, question, 

and know what our truth is daily. It is difficult to do that from a closed fixed place. 

To be open and curious to others' opinions, fark even to be open and curious to you changing your mind. 

It can be challenging and have you questioning what is true for me right now?

For this time together let's find the place within us that Glennon Doyle calls 'the knowing'.

Your intuition, your inner voice(for this workshop we call it the knowing). 

And you know as well as I do, when you know. 

When you truly know in your bones and belly what is true for you, 

and it may not be for everyone else, but it is for you - you can feel it in your whole being.

That's the place we will spend time with and get to know better // to know your truth. 

The Open Floor Movement Practice curriculum will guide us and resource us for this journey, 

Matauranga Maori will inspire and Paekākāriki whenua will nourish us while we gather.

This is a non-mandated event. With Covid out and about in Aotearoa right now, please be super respectful to this community of dancers. If you feel sick, please do not enter the space. We all want to feel safe right now. 

If Covid cases are present in the community and the levels change we will cancel this event, 

and you will receive a full refund.
