MATARIKI // Dancing Down the Stars

A collaboration between Fabric Artist Maungarongo Te Kawa and Open Floor Creatrix Kaiakindness.

To dance down the stars >> !!!! <<to call them on to our dance floor to inspire us, to enlive in us.

For this weekend -  if you dare - you are invited to celebrate! 

To lean into some fucken joy and shine!!! (((I wanna say bitches, but I'm not sure if that's appropriate!))

But you get my meaning.

Let's celebrate together the completion of another cycle of our year. 

Acknowledging the hard, the really fucken hard, the births, the moments of absolute joy, and everything in between.

Can we celebrate it all? 

Kaiakindness will weave their expertise of movement inquiry, using music and invitation.

Maungarongo will infuse the floor with story and guide us into creative expression. 

Do you need to be an artist to come? Hell no!

Do I need to be a dancer to come? Nope again...

Do you have a body? Yes, then you can come

Do you wanna full up on YUM YUM YES YES!!! then come

This workshop is for you to find expression and joy and love and all the good things in the depths of winter.

....and to celebrate you...the unique human you are.

What to expect?

Joy, laughter, celebration, wild dancing, creative mess, mischief...FUN

Yes, expect to have some fun.

If you have been on the floor with Maungarongo, 

you know that their very nature of existence brings deep insights and JOY...and a fair amount of cheek.

So flick that head back, look forward to the depths of winter....and ask yourself...

Surrounded but fabulous humans!!! 

If it is a hell yes! Then come on, get that ticket!!

If it's an eeek, I'm not sure. Then come anyway.

Warm up this winter, with us, dancing down the stars.

Friday 6-9pm - Open Floor Movement Cycle // Community Open.

Saturday 10-1, 3-6, 8-10pm

Sunday 10-1, 230-5pm

This is not a residential workshop, you will need to source your own accommodation and food.

Shared kai is encouraged and we love to eat, so bring all the yumminess you want.

One last thing is that this is open to all ranges of movers, and humans. 

I would prefer you to be 12 - 13 and over and that’s the only restriction.

We have wheelchair access to the hall, chairs in the space for you to dance on.

This workshop will only take place with enough participants.

If I chose to cancel this workshop I will let people know by the 21st of June you will receive a full refund.

If you chose to cancel your participation in this workshop

Up to one week before the workshop = Full refund minus $30admin fee will be charged.

The week of the workshop = 50% refund

48hours before and leading up to the workshop = zero refund

If we go into level 2 this workshop will still be possible due to the number limit.

Level 3 and I will set another date, if this date does not work for you, you will receive a refund.
