About the Event

A marking of this moment in time with ceremony, ritual and awareness.

This wānanga is a rites-based exploration.

We begin the journey on Friday evening, our first dance with the darkness.

To exist within this great cycle of our seasons, our maramataka moon cycles help our wild skins understand what is coming,

what is expected and what to do now. This is the season of letting go, harvest has been done, and we are saving seeds.

These seeds are the gifts from our summer months ~ During this process, we will dance, create and write.

This is ancient and can be really methodical ~ this no longer serves me, it is time to let it go back to the earth.

What are the seeds I am saving, and caring for this winter?

Poipoia te kakano kia pua wai ~ nurture the seed and it will blossom.

Let's make sure that this winter we are nurturing the seeds we want to blossom,

not out of habit, but from consciously choosing what is right for us.

And again we come back to being with the darkness, supported in the darkness.

Te Pō is such an important presence in this wānanga, we all have a relationship with darkness, and we all came from here.

We spend time in the dance, in the making, in the creating, in the ceremony with Te Pō.

Taking time with Hinenuitepo, Hineuku, Hineahuone, all while in the whare of Hineteiwaiwa ~ Te Whare Pōra.

We will be constructing and deconstructing using clay and charcoal.

Please dress with clothes that you are not super precious about, you may choose to get messy.

This is a place where movement, creativity, and our collective expressions will be honoured.

We will be in ceremony and personal ritual will be encouraged to explore.

This is a brave space of personal inquiry directed towards honouring yourself and this time we exist in.

Deep long uninterrupted dances, ocean offerings, connection to source, and resourcing all the way through.

Atua ~ Hine nui i te Pō, Hineteiwaiwa, Hine Ahuone, Hineuku, Hine Moana.

Space to exist, Space to decompose, Space to form. with form.

Our whakapapa o Te Kore and Te Pō.

We will take inspiration from these stages as we journey thru this workshop together.

Making, Moving, Creating, Resting, Contemplating and Exploring.

Notice which stage calls to you as we journey into our winter months.
