About the Event
Let's be real!!! Something died in the dark during Te Pō, what space did it create and
are you ready to let something flourish?
Te Whai Ao invites us to step into the light, acknowledging both where we are and why we are here. As we transition from the depths of Te Pō, we come together to embrace the dawn of Te Whai Ao.
Helping us resource towards > Te Ao Mārama the world of light and clarity.
This gathering is about recognising the spark within, allowing it to guide us in our decolonisation and reindigenisation journeys.
Join us for an immersive experience that combines deep reflection with active participation. Together, we’ll explore the interconnectedness of decolonisation and reindigenisation, understanding that these processes are not separate but must be done in unison for true transformation. Spring, the season of new beginnings, mirrors our own potential for growth and change.
Through movement, kōrero, and collective action, we will nurture the seeds of change within ourselves and our community, supporting each other in this dance of transition.
This is a call to action, an invitation to activate the light within,
and to contribute to the collective liberation of all peoples.
Nau mai, haere mai – all are welcome.
Let’s come together to build a community rooted in mutual support, shared growth, and the pursuit of a brighter, more liberated future.
Where we have been and where we are going…
Te Kore: The void, the state of potential, the space of infinite possibilities. It represents the realm of nothingness where all creation begins, the primordial state before anything takes form. In Te Kore, there is limitless potential, the seed of all things yet to come. It’s a time of stillness and quietude, where we rest in the womb of creation, preparing for the emergence of what is yet to be born. This is the space where ideas and intentions are first conceived, waiting to be brought into being through the subsequent stages of growth and development.
Te Pō: The realm of darkness, the night, the unseen, symbolic of the unknown or unconscious state. It's a time of deep listening, of calling the sacred fire closer to us, to be part of this softening, part of this deep listening.
Te Whai Ao: The pursuit of light, the transition from darkness to light, the seeking of knowledge and enlightenment. It signifies the journey towards understanding and awareness.
Te Ao Mārama: The world of light, the world of understanding and enlightenment, the illuminated world of consciousness. It represents a state of full awareness and enlightenment.
This framework beautifully encapsulates the journey from potential to awareness, offering a powerful metaphor for the work of decolonisation and reindigenisation will be our Summer Wānanga 2025, held over four days in Kapiti.
Each of these stages can be seen as a metaphorical journey of transformation and awakening. Moving from a state of potential through darkness and seeking light, to a place of full understanding and consciousness. Throughout the workshops, expect a supportive and inclusive environment that honors diverse perspectives and experiences.
Each session is designed to offer a holistic and transformative experience, inviting you to embrace the fullness of your being and awaken to new possibilities.
As a connected series, each wānanga will continue to build from the other,
